Overview[]
The movie explores themes of prejudice, unity, and survival as mutants struggle against growing hostility from the human world. Stryker launches an attack on Professor Xavier’s school and kidnaps Xavier, intending to use his powerful mind to wipe out all mutants. This forces the X-Men to form an uneasy alliance with their former enemy, Magneto, to stop Stryker’s genocidal plan.
Plot[]
After a mutant named Nightcrawler infiltrates the White House and attempts to assassinate the President, anti-mutant sentiment rises. Wolverine continues his search for answers about his past, while Mystique works to free Magneto from his prison. When Stryker’s forces invade Xavier’s school, several mutants escape and regroup in Boston, where they join forces with Magneto. Together, they infiltrate Stryker’s base to rescue Xavier and prevent the destruction of all mutants.
The film was praised for its action sequences, character development, and deeper exploration of mutant discrimination. It remains one of the standout entries in the X-Men franchise.

Reception[]
X2: X-Men United (2003) was widely praised for its action sequences, character development, and deeper exploration of mutant discrimination. Many critics considered it a significant improvement over its predecessor, X-Men (2000), and a benchmark for comic book sequels.
One critic described it as "pretty much all that you’d ever want out of a comic book movie—it’s smart, it’s breathlessly paced, the characters have at least 2 1/2 dimensions, and the action sequences are jaw-droppers". Another noted that "the greatest X-Men film we’ve ever gotten remains X2, an absolutely spectacular reminder of how well these characters translate to film when they’re given the right vehicle".
