- Ryan Reynolds is a huge fan of the character of Deadpool and has lobbied for years for a Deadpool-centric film project. He accepted the limited role in the film and knowing that the critics would pan it because he felt that this would be the debut introduction of the character and someone else would do it if he didn't step up and accept it.
