It is a weapon unlike any other. Many have killed to possess it. Many have been killed possessing it. For the Witchblade is no mere mortally crafted weapon that is wielded by its owner ... for the sentient and ancient gauntlet/weapon wields itself and whoever happens to be wearing it; gifting them with superhuman strength and speed along with its bulletproof shape-shifting armor and blades.
In the present day, this deadly artifact has fallen into the hands of New York Police Detective Sara Pezzini. It has chosen her as its latest wielder as she struggles to use its fearsome powers in the cause of justice ... while others seek to exploit her and her newfound powers. But Sara begins to realize that her mortal enemies are by far the least dangerous of her adversaries but rather the mysterious weapon on her hand which has its own sinister agenda. Can she control it ... or in the end ... will it end up controlling her instead?
Witchblade was a short-lived American produced sci-fi adventure-crime superhero TV series starring Yancy Butler, David Chokachi, and Anthony Cistaro. The series was intended as a continuation of the popular 2000 made-for-TV movie Witchblade which itself was based on the decade long popular Top Cow comic book series of the same name created by Mark Silvestri, David Wohl, Brian Haberlin, Christina Z, and Michael Turner.
Although highly rated with a cult following, this series suffered an abrupt cancellation. It is speculated that this was due to the personal problems of its main star Yancy Butler who suddenly entered rehab which made further shooting impossible.
