RIP 2024
They burned bright on the silver screen, stage, and tv screens. They were our stars and we idolized them for how they touched us for the very brief time that they were here. And so, for all of the Stars of 2024 who finally dimmed and faded out—we remember you.
SnowyMountain's A Few Good Men Review
( WARNING : SPOILERS !!!! )
“A Few Fine Performances but A Not So Great Movie”
Overall, I thought that A Few Good Men was a solid film throughout. It was competently executed by the filmmakers but at the same time—it did not stand out exceptionally well either.
The film focuses on a pair of US Marines (Wolfgang Bodison & James Marshall) who are arrested for the death of a third Marine. JAG Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) is appointed to defend them and tries to get them the best possible plea bargain—only to run into a problem. The Marines in question don’t want a plea bargain because they’re convinced that they’re blameless since they were only following orders of the powerful and highly connected Colonel Jessup (Jack Nicholson) who flatly d…
SnowyMountain's Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Review
( WARNING : SPOILERS !!!! )
“Save Yourself! Don’t Watch!”
Being that I'm unfamiliar with the graphic novels that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was based upon; I wasn't sure what to expect with the movie but I wasn't impressed with it. I am uncertain to just how faithful an adaptation this movie is, but it certainly killed whatever sort of curiosity that I might have had towards reading it. It was simply that bad.
I will also admit that I was just not a big fan of the alternative indie music used throughout this performance. Some people must love alt and indie rock and think it’s great—but unfortunately I was definitely not in that percentage of the populace and this was another element that really didn’t help improve this movie for me. So jus…
SnowyMountain's Friends 1 x 01 "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate" Review
( WARNING : SPOILERS !!!! )
FRIENDS
SEASON 1, EPISODE 1 “THE ONE WHERE MONICA GETS A ROOMMATE”
“The First One Was Only Average”
I never really saw Friends when it was on the air so I was only vaguely familiar with it—although I did manage to catch the odd episode and know the basics. The series is extremely well known and was the breakout series for the ensemble cast with a number of cameo appearances of some of the brightest and most popular stars of the era such as Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, and Tom Selleck.
For a pilot episode, “The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate” is decent enough. It has a number of funny lines and scenes but it suffers from the fact that it is trying to introduce the main cast of characters so it’…
SnowyMountain's RoboCop (1987) Review
( WARNING : SPOILERS !!!! )
“Part Man, Part Machine, All Good Entertainment!”
RoboCop scared the crap out of me as a kid. It was shocking, gory, and incredibly bloody. The graphic violence of watching a bunch of low life criminals laughing as they literally blew apart a cop was just chilling. But what was almost as horrific was watching him getting cyborgified into his new form.
I remember desperately wanting to get up and leave—or maybe switch off the TV to something more light hearted but I was watching a movie rental with a couple of my friends and didn’t want to seem like a wimp so I stayed and tried not shriek like a little girl and cover my eyes. And boy—watching that one bad guy getting dissolved by toxic waste really took some heroi…
