Uma Thurman ( b. 29 April 1970 ) is an American actress and former model. She has appeared in live action stage theater, television and cinematic roles; and voice acting performances.
Thurman is best known for her starring roles as mob boss Marsellus Wallace's trophy wife Mia in the 1994 film Pulp Fiction and as the revenge-seeking and rampaging Beatrix Kiddo aka the Bride in the two-part Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 released concurrently in 2003 and 2004.

- Was raised a Buddhist due to the fact that her father is an ordained Buddhist monk and a Professor of Indio-Tibetan Buddhist Studies. Her first name of "Uma" comes from Sanskrit and translates directly into "splendor" or "light". Her middle name "Karuna" means "compassion" or "empathy".
