Overview[]
Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American produced action drama film starring Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, and Val Kilmer. It was directed by Joseph Kosinski and is considered a direct sequel to the 1986 blockbuster film Top Gun which also starred Tom Cruise. The film was originally due to be released in 2020 but the COVID-19 epidemic resulted in delaying its release until 2022.
Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is still a daredevil naval aviator who still pushes the envelope―flying harder and higher than anyone else ... before his inevitable crash. His day of reckoning is coming sooner than he thinks ... where he will be drummed out of the Navy and no longer will be able to do what he was born to do―fly fighter jets.
But not quite yet.
He has been called upon for one last mission―perhaps his most important one yet. He has been summoned back to TOPGUN to instruct a new generation of elite pilots to fly the most dangerous mission of their careers. A mission that will demand that these cocky rookies fly harder and higher than anything that they've been asked to do before. That will demand more from these men and their machines that they may have to give: their very lives.
Because this is a mission that everyone has proclaimed as a suicide run, It's not a question of if someone will die ... it's more of a question of when. Everyone ... except for Maverick.
But he will need to do something he has never been able to do before: to teach these young aviators how to fly like him and maybe ... just maybe, some of them might make it back alive.
Plot[]
Worse, Maverick finds himself forced to confront a ghost from his past; a young pilot Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw ... the son of his deceased best friend and RIO Nick "Goose" Bradshaw.
Rooster desperately needs all of the skills and training that Maverick can impart upon him for this upcoming mission but defiantly refuses to learn from the same man whom he blames for his father's death. But if Maverick isn't able to reach Rooster ... he will be sending his friend's son off to die just like his father did.
