Plot Summary[]
Season 1[]
The first season of the series introduces the viewer to the primary cast of characters, beginning with the Turtles (Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo) and Splinter before providing a quick glimpse of the main antagonist, Oroku Saki (Shredder). The show takes on a darker, grittier feel compared to its predecessor, with stories adapted from the original Mirage comic series. April O'Neil meets the Turtles in the second episode and Casey Jones appears in the fourth. An encounter with the Foot Clan ninja leads to the primary story arc of the first season, wherein the Turtles learn that the Foot are led by Splinter's arch enemy, Shredder. This eventually leads to Leonardo being ambushed and nearly killed, an attack on April's shop and it subsequently being burned down, and the Turtles' return to New York City to "defeat" Shredder. During this fight, Splinter goes missing. The final two episodes of the season show the Turtles searching for their master and accidently being transported off of planet Earth.
