On the dark world of Remnant, mankind was born from dust. But they were not alone. They found themselves hunted by powerful dark creatures known as Grimm. And for a time, it seemed as though man was doomed to extinction.
Until mankind discovered a mysterious power to wield the elements. He called his creation ... Dust and with it's powers to wield nature's wrath, humanity pushed back the Grimm and thrived, creating and shaping civilization.
But the darkness still lurks out there; watching, waiting for a chance to return when mankind grows weak and corrupt. And that time appears to be now...
One of mankind's shining lights of hope is Beacon Academy which trains the next generation of Dust Wielders. Among this new class of exceptional students is Ruby Rose who will forge a compact with Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. Together, they will become a team of legends. The legend of RWBY who will stand against the Grimm and the coming darkness.
RWBY is an ongoing American produced action-adventure fantasy animated 3D CGI web series with Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, Barbara Dunkelman, and Miles Luna contributing as the primary voice actors.
It was originally created, written, and directed by Monty Oum, a self-taught animator who worked on Rooster Teeth's popular Red vs Blue web series. Oum was credited with helping transform the series from a comedy based series into a more action based on with his amazing choreography and fight sequences. Oum would subsequently pitched his RWBY Project to Rooster Teeth which became a viral hit, winning several awards for its first two seasons. In response to numerous requests, a spin-off miniseries, World of Remnant was created and has been intermittently released which features as in-depth background and details behind the world, the history, and technologies utilized in RWBY in 2014.
In 2015, RWBY was placed on a brief hiatus when Oum suffered a severe allergic reaction during a routine medical procedure and died shortly after. However, Rooster Teeth has continued the series thanks to extensive story notes left behind by Oum. A more comedic spin-off series, RWBY Chibi was also released in 2016.
