Queen Latifah ( b. 18 March 1970 ) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, producer, and talk show host. She has appeared in live action television and cinematic roles; and voice acting performances.

She first earned her fame as a rising female rapper in 1989 under the stage name of "Queen Latifah" at the age of 19 and would go on to become the first female rapper to receive a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She transitioned into acting afterwards.

Latifah is best known for her prominent roles in a number of highly acclaimed films including Set It Off; Chicago; Hairspray; and Life Support as well as being the voice actor for the animated female mammoth Ellie in the animated Ice Age film franchise.

Latifah is celebrated for winning several awards and accolades including a Grammy Award, a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards over the course of her career.
