Sir Patrick Stewart ( b. 13 July 1940 ) is an English actor, director, producer, and activist. He has appeared in live action stage theater, television, and cinematic roles; and voice acting performances.

Stewart is renowned as a highly accomplished classic stage thespian who was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1966 to 1982; with numerous plays and performances in both the West End and Broadway. He would transition into television and cinematic roles afterwards. His extensive career spans seven decades and is celebrated for winning two Laurence Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award. His work resulted in him being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010.

Stewart is famous for his trademark bald head, stern demeanor, and powerful authoritative voice.

Stewart is internationally known for his commanding performances as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series which made him a sci-fi icon. Stewart would go on to continually reprise his role over the ensuing decades in various cameos, cinematic films, and the sequel web streaming series Star Trek: Picard.

Stewart is further renowned for his role as Professor Charles Xavier from the X-Men film series which he has also continued to reprise over the ensuing decades as well in various cinematic films sequels and spin-offs.

  • Although he has since gained worldwide fame and acclaim from his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and has portrayed the character since 1987 in various TV series and films ever since―Patrick Stewart was convinced that the TV show would soon be cancelled and his role would unceremoniously end afterwards. Stewart admits that he refused to have his bags unpacked for the first six weeks of shooting.
