Overview[]
Judge Hershey is a major character in the 1995 movie Judge Dredd. Hershey is played by Diane Lane.
Background[]
Judge Hershey is relatively new to the streets, having garduated from the Academy of Law just 12 months previously. She is tough, smart and beautiful, but still possesses the idealism of youth.
Dredd fascinates Hershey, but she does not agree with his view that being a Judge is a twenty-four hour profession. Unlike Dredd, Hersehey has a personal life and friends outside of work.
Despite this difference of opinion a bond forms between the two and when Dredd is charged with murder he chooses Hershey to defend him.
After initially doubting Dredd, she decided that she can trust him, that he is innocent. When her defense fails and he is sent to to the penal colony, Aspen, she begins to investigate his background – a path that puts her own life in danger.
Major Plots[]
After Dredd is sent to Aspen, Hershey stubbornly continues to investigate Dredd's case and uncovers the Janus Project – a secret cloning program that not only created Joe Dredd from Chief Justice Fargo's DNA, but also Joe's brother, Rico Dredd.
Hershey discovers that the Janus Project has been reinstated by Rico in an attempt to take over the city with the help of evil clones. Rico i stopped by Hershey and Dredd.
After Dredd's name is cleared, the remaining Judges ask him to become the new Chief Justice, but Dredd refuses, preferring to remain a Street Judge. Hershey kisses him goodbye as he leaves.

Judge Hershey was a beautiful Mega City Judge with black hair and blue eyes. As Hershey had graduated only one year ago she should be 19-years old.
As only the best children are accepted to the Academy of Law, and only the best graduate, and only the best of the best survive their first year it is fair to say that Judge Hershey was tough and capable Judge. Hershey had been trained to perfection both physically and mentally – she was strong, quick and fast.
