Honey Lemon has got some major chemical reactions going on! A stalwart member of Big Hero 6, this firecracker of a superheroine wields chemicals as lethal weapons even though she sometimes seems to a budding mad scientist and has a disturbing love for huge explosions!

Honey Lemon is a major character that appeared in the 2014 Big Hero 6 animated movie was portrayed by voice actress Genesis Rodriguez. This version was heavily adapted from her comic book incarnation.

Background[]

Honey Lemon is a minor comic book character published by Marvel Comics. She debuted in Sunfire & Big Hero 6 #1, published in September of 1998 and was created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau.

In the Marvel Comics, Honey Lemon has a very different background and story. In her comic incarnation, she is a beautiful and extremely young scientific prodigy known as Aiko Miyazaki who was recruited by the Naikaku Joho Chosashitsu (Naicho), Japan's premiere intelligence agency at an early age. With her looks and brains, she graduated as a secret intelligence agent and chose the code name of "Honey Lemon" and feigned being a dumb, shallow airhead.

As a method of concealment, Honey Lemon applied her genius to create a cluster of artificial wormholes in conjunction with miniaturization technology into a compact high-tech "Power Purse" in which she can pull out any object, no matter how large and enabling her to store an incredible and versatile arsenal of gadgets, tools, supplies, and weaponry that she can pull out at need. Her abilities combined with her high-tech gadgetry drew the attention of the Japanese government when it was forming Big Hero 6 and she became one of their first recruits.

Her "dumb" behavior clashed with her fellow teammate, GoGo Tomago who was outraged and thought that Honey had been chosen purely for her looks but GoGo ultimately came to respect her and became good friends with the secret agent.

Honey also has a flirtatious relationship with her fellow member, Hiro Takachiho who vainly struggles to control his crush on her.

She has continued to appear irreguarly in various Marvel comics as part of the aforementioned group but has not enjoyed major success despite being one of the stars of a big screen adaptation, Big Hero 6 and a forthcoming TV adaptation series.

Personality and Traits[]

Honey Lemon

Sunny, overly positive, bubbly, hugely optimistic, and extremely outgoing; Honey could be described as the exact opposite of the rather dour and sarcastic GoGo. She loves to dress in retro style 60's and 70's clothing, platform shoes with sizable heels, headbands to keep her long hair out of her face, and wears a pair of glasses that also double as safety goggles for her chemistry experiments. Among her other hobbies is photography and she often takes selfies of herself with her friends.

Honey is highly intelligent and is deeply empathic towards others. She enjoys hugging people and is very excitable, particularly towards her passion of chemistry. Of all of her fellow scientists, her exuberant personality becomes increasingly disturbing when she works with chemical concoctions where she could easily pass for a prototypical "mad scientist".

Honey is subsequently outfitted with an armored battlesuit that is designed to provide her with protection from physical attacks. In addition, it has a flip up visor with vision corrective capabilities. Honey also carries a special purse that is a miniature chemical laboratory housed in a rugged outer case. There is a touchscreen on the outside that shows the periodic table and allows Honey to quickly select and choose various chemical compounds and amounts at need. The purse is also held onto place by a strap with over a dozen hollow plastic spheres composed of an advanced polyethylene attached to it. When Honey taps in her selection, the motorized strap acts as a conveyor belt to bring one of the polyethylene capsule shells inside the purse where it is quickly injected with the combination of chemicals before it is ejected out of the other side into her waiting hand.

These chem-balls can have a wide variety of offensive and defensive effects. Honey has created rapidly hardening foam to immobilize opponents; explosives; smokescreen fogs; a substance that rapidly drops the temperature of the surrounding areas to create ice; a cushioning form to break falls and absorb impacts; adhesives; super-elastic gums; and causing metal alloys to become brittle.
