On a cold Halloween night in 1963 a young boy named Michael Myers, brutally stabs his babysitting older sister, Judith Myers, to death. Michael is placed in a minimum-security ward under the care of a psychiatrist named Sam Loomis. 15 years later, on the night of his sister's murder. Michael escapes from the asylum and heads back to his old neighborhood, with Sam Loomis on his trail.
