One thousand years ago ... it was a Dark Age. An Age of superstition and the sword. It was an Age of ... Gargoyles who are stone by day, but transform into flesh and blood night!

In the Highlands of Scotland, a Clan of Gargoyles allied themselves with humans, only to be betrayed and locked in stone for a thousand years by a mystic curse. Now the modern era, their curse has been broken and they live again! Medieval warriors and Defenders of the Night! They are Gargoyles!

Gargoyles was an American produced action-fantasy animated cartoon TV series with Keith David, Salli Richardson, Jonathan Frakes, and Ed Asner contributing as the primary voice actors. It had a relatively short but memorable series run and was noteworthy for its dark and gothic backgrounds, dramatic and complex character driven storylines, and Shakespearean themes before it was cancelled. An attempt to bolster its ratings saw a radical shift for its third season which was retitled, Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles. Fans however were dismayed by the controversial alterations and the series ended soon afterwards.

Despite this, Gargoyles has remained a cult favorite and regarded as one of the most highly ranked animated TV series of all time.
