Barry Allen is a man haunted by his past. When he was a boy, he saw something. Something impossible. A storm of lightning inside his house and when it was over; his mother had been brutally murdered. But no one believed him and his father was blamed and sent to prison for the heinous crime. For decades, Barry has sought to discover the truth and free his wrongfully convicted and imprisoned father. Looking for answers. Looking for the impossible. But then, one day ... the impossible found him.
Struck by a bolt of lightning, Barry Allen has become the impossible. A man who can move faster than sound, faster than lightning ... a Flash. Now he uses his powers for good, to find others like him, to protect the innocent, and hopefully, discover the man who murdered his mother.
The Flash is an ongoing long-running American produced action-adventure-drama superhero TV series starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin.
It is an adaptation of the long running DC Comics series of the same name that was first published in 1940. The series focuses on a superspeedster known as the Flash which is a generational heroic mantle that has been passed down across the decades from one hero to the next. The most popular and well known iteration is Barry Allen who first ran into the comic pages in 1956 and has become an enduring icon of the DC Universe for decades alongside other greats such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
Originally a spin-off series of the acclaimed Arrow TV series; The Flash quickly spun off its own TV series, Legends of Tomorrow with these series and others becoming part of an inter-connected universe and have had several crossover episodes resulting in their collectively being dubbed, "The Arrowverse".
