Overview[]
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a 1986 American produced comedy film starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jennifer Grey and Jeffrey Jones. It was written, produced, and directed by John Hughes.
This film was one to the top grossing films of its release, acclaimed by both critics and audiences alike and was so popular that in 1999, a TV series adaptation based on the film, Ferris Bueller was created. The series proved far less popular than the film and was cancelled several months later due to lackluster ratings.
Ferris Bueller works hard ... to avoid work that is. Whether it's creating false rumors through the student gossip chain, faking an illness to his parents, or using pre-taped excuses with complex sound effects; he's a devious and creative genius at it.
Intent on skipping school for a day, Ferris goads his best friend Cameron Frye to come with him even as he tricks the school to release his girlfriend Sloan Peterson due to the "tragic death of her grandmother". However, while his parents, neighbors, and even schoolmates are convinced by his act; not everyone is. Such as his cynical and resentful sister Jeanie who would love to have the chance to get Ferris is trouble. As well as the Dean of Students, Edward Rooney who is out to catch the slippery con artist once and for all. Taking it is easy has never been so hard!

Trivia[]
- Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward, who portrayed played Ferris' parents in the film actually got married afterwards. They later divorced in 1992.
- Ben Stein actually has a degree in Economics and was asked to present an actual Economics lecture in his scenes and simply ad-libbed his entire speech.
- During the parade several of the people seen dancing (including the construction worker and the window washer) were not even extras in the film. They were simply dancing to the music being played and were recorded by the camera operators and added to the film.
