A benevolent alien is stranded on Earth when his shipmates are forced to depart without him, he is discovered and befriended by a lonely young boy, Elliott who names him, "E.T.". But the government is searching for the alien visitor who is growing increasingly weaker and sicker ... and so is Elliott who risks everything to save his new friend to find a way home.
