Dope is a 2015 American film written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa. It stars Shameik Moore, Chanel Iman, Tony Revolori, Kimberly Elise. The film premiered in theaters on June 19, 2015.
Overview[]
Malcolm and his friends attend an underground party hosted by Dom, a drug dealer. When the police raid the party, he and his friends escape, unaware that Dom hid drugs and a gun in his backpack.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2015. The rights of this film was sold to Open Road Films, who released this film in the United States, and Sony who released it internationally for a total of $27 million. The film was officially released on June 16, 2015.

- This film grossed around $18 million worldwide. In its opening weekend, it grossed $6.1 million, finishing 5th at the box office.
- This is the first film to accept bitcoin for ticket purchases at over 900 theaters in the United States, which is parallel to the film's own plot. It is also one of the first films to mention cryptocurrency.
- Rapper A$AP Rocky portrayed Dom after helping then-girlfriend Chanel Iman run her lines. This film also marks his debut as an actor.
