Overview[]
Diamonds Are Forever is a 1971 British produced action-thriller espionage film starring Sean Connery, Jill St. John, and Charles Gray. It was directed by Guy Hamilton and is the seventh James Bond film in the Eon Productions film series. It was based on the Ian Fleming novel of the same name but was only loosely utilized the plot and characters.
The dismal critical response of George Lazenby's performance in the previous feature film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service as well as his refusal to portray the secret agent again resulted in United Artists' demand to bring back Sean Connery to the role at any cost resulting in Connery's record setting $1.25 million salary for his sixth outing in the 007: James Bond Franchise.
Diamonds are a precious and expensive resource as MI-6 Secret Agent James Bond discovers. Someone wants them badly. So badly that they are willing to kill all of the various diamond smugglers to seize their stock for themselves. But they aren't interested in selling their stock at outrageous prices. Whoever is behind it has a much bigger and more sinister scheme in mind ... worldwide extortion! It's up to England's most debonair and greatest secret agent to find out and derail this plot.
