Deadpool & Wolverine is a 2024 American produced superhero film starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Mcfadyen. It was directed by Shawn Levy.
The film is an adaptation of the popular anti-heroes Deadpool and Wolverine who have both costarred and headlined as members of the long-running X-Men and various spin-off comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It is considered a direct sequel to the original 2016 Deadpool and the 2018 Deadpool 2 films which were originally owned and released by 20th Century Fox.
Walt Disney Pictures subsequently acquired the company and the filming rights to the character in 2019 which allowed them to integrate the film (and its characters) as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU).
It is the first R-Rated MCU film as well as the thirty-fourth film of the MCU and part of its Phase Five Series. Deadpool & Wolverine is considered to be a tribute to the previous 20th Century Fox released X-Men films and various other related Marvel Comics superhero media.
His days as the morally flexible Merc With a Mouth aka Deadpool are long behind Wade Wilson as he spends his days as a would-be used car salesman after a confidence shattering breakup with his girlfriend Vanessa. Until the Time Variance Authority approach him for a new mission: join the Sacred Timeline as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside his beloved and admired heroes! Suiting up once more, Deadpool is going to have to traverse the variant timelines of the multiverse alongside his new reluctant buddy, Wolverine to save all of reality itself from a new existential threat. Well, providing that the pair can stop from killing one another first...
