The late David Odgen Stiers ( b. 31 October 1942 - 3 March 2018 ) was an American actor and conductor. He appeared in live action Broadway stage theater, television and cinematic roles; and voice acting performances. Stiers was distinguished for his towering height and deep articulate voice.
Stiers is best known for his extended role as the overly pompous Major Charles Emerson Winchester III on the hit television series M*A*S*H where he served as the reluctant replacement for Major Frank Burns.

Trivia[]
- Attended the prestigious Julliard School. Although enrolled in the acting division of the school, he often skipped his classes to informally sit in the school's master classes in music.
- Was renowned for his deep passion and love for music. Despite having no formal degree in music, he would go on to become a symphony conductor and performed in over 70 orchestras all over the world and is credited with being instrumental in the establishment the Newport Symphony Orchestra in Oregon.
