- Ironically, Anne Hathaway was set to portray another cat-themed super-villainess in DC's rival company, Marvel Comics before she was the Catwoman. Hathaway had auditioned and had been accepted to co-star in "Spider-Man 4" as a cat burglar known as the Black Cat as one of the opponents Spider-Man would have faced off against in the film. Like Catwoman, the Black Cat fell hard for her superhero counterpart Spider-Man, giving up her criminal ways and reforming to fight alongside him (at least in the comics). However the dismal failure of Spider-Man 3 resulted in the studio scrapping the project and deciding to reboot the entire series with The Amazing Spider-Man instead which left Hathaway available to accept the role of Catwoman.
