It is Hell's Kitchen. A rough and tumble neighborhood in the midst of Manhattan filled with the poor and proud; filled with grit and crime; and it was where Matt Murdock grew up.
It's where a truck carrying industrial chemicals had an accident. Where in a fit of heroic impulse, the young boy shoved an elderly man out of the way only to struck in the eyes by a strange concoction of toxic chemicals. It robbed Matt of his sight but boosted his remaining senses. It is a world of eternal darkness but filled with sounds, scents, tastes, and textures that the rest of us simply cannot perceive with his remaining superhuman senses.
It's where Matt and his best friend Foggy Nelson have decided to set up their new law firm.
And it's where a grand criminal conspiracy has been enacted to seize control of Manhattan. A conspiracy that perhaps only Matt can derail.
By day, Matt is the saintly dedicated blind defense lawyer. Sworn to uphold and defend the law of the land. By night, he is someone very different. At night, he uses his superhumanly keen senses and his extraordinary fighting skills to stalk the streets, as the vigilante Daredevil who breaks those same laws.
For Matt Murdock, justice is blind ... and so is the Daredevil. But he may just be what Hell's Kitchen needs to save it. For the innocent, he is their salvation, for the guilty ... prepare for Hell itself.
Pray for the Devil.
Marvel's Daredevil was an American produced action-adventure-drama superhero web TV series starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Vincent D'Onofrio. It is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although Daredevil was critically acclaimed by audiences and critics alike and extensive plans for a fourth season being drawn up; Netflix abruptly cancelled the series in 2018.
Despite the brief hiatus, recent plans indicate the indication that the series and its characters will be folded into the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe properly.
Much like the rest of New York, the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen is struggling to recover and rebuild in the wake of the Chitauri Invasion. And there are some who see this chaos and uncertainty as ... opportunity.
Crime is at an all time high and for rookie lawyers, Foggy Nelson and Matthew Murdock; they have come to establish themselves as a new law firm; Nelson & Murdock. But they are far from the only ones such as Wilson Fisk who has designs on running the burgeoning criminal enterprises in the city as its' one true Kingpin.
However Matt Murdock finds his hands tied by the legal codes and courts and takes out his frustrations by using his adept martial skills and superhuman senses at night, becoming an urban vigilante.
His two separate lives find themselves in collision as Matt finds himself compelled to use his masked persona to help in clearing the name of his and Foggy's innocent client, Karen Page who inadvertently has found herself embroiled in one of Wilson Fisk's schemes as a scapegoat.
Although freed thanks to Murdock & Foggy, Karen is embittered by the fact that the Kingpin and his agents has legally evaded any sort of punishment. An angry Karen Page begins her own investigation and attempts to find sufficient evidence to bring Fisk down on her own even as Murdock is drawn into foiling the Kingpin's criminal enterprises.
With Page's assistance, Murdock is able to find a witness whose confession brings down the would-be Kingpin however will transform him from an urban legend ... to the Guardian Devil of Hell's Kitchen ... the Daredevil!
The Kingpin's fall from grace has left Hell's Kitchen in a state of uncertainty and chaos. New cartels seek to seize control of it and now, another vigilante stalks the streets of New York ... and it is not Matt Murdock. This new vigilante is Frank Castle aka the Punisher and is much more brutal and willing to murder whoever or whatever gets in his way of revenge for his slaughtered family. Karen Page, now an investigative reporter is fascinated by Castle's tragic past and is sympathetic to his activities, tries to get the public on his side by writing a series of pro-Punisher articles.
Murdock finds himself battling the Punisher to save the innocent and protect the guilty from his bloody retribution as Daredevil and is forced to ally himself with Elektra; a skilled martial artist whom he had a tempestuous affair with in college.
But is the bloody minded and revenge obsessed Elektra truly his ally ... or an even more dangerous enemy than Castle? Even after capturing Castle, Murdock ironically finds himself defending the same murderer who is now on trial for his actions in his guise as a lawyer only for Elektra's interference to cost him the case ... and imperil his strained friendship with Foggy Nelson who has discovered his illegal activities as a vigilante.
Matt Murdock faces a terrible and grueling physical rehabilitation after a terrible battle with the Hand. Believed dead by his friends Foggy and Karen and the collapse of his civilian life as a lawyer, Murdock decides to embrace his "death" and assume the mantle of Daredevil full-time.
His old enemy the Kingpin however has turned federal informant and is soon freed. Determined to get revenge on his nemesis who engineered his imprisonment, the Kingpin manipulates Benjamin Poindexer into becoming his agent who masquerades as Daredevil to assassinate his targets, in order to turn New York against the vigilante. In the end, Foggy convinces Matt to reassume his civilian life and uses his lawyer skills to bring down the Kingpin even as he defeats the faux Daredevil in his vigilante mantle.
