Background

Dan Aykroyd ( b. 1 July 1952 ) is a Canadian comedian, musician, screenwriter, producer, businessman, and actor. He has appeared in live action television and cinematic roles; and voice acting performances.

Aykroyd is famous for his recurring roles on the late night comedy sketch series Saturday Night Live; often writing his own material and creating such infamous characters such as the Coneheads and the Blues Brothers. However he is best known in his role as the overly enthusiastic Dr. Raymond Stantz of the Ghostbusters Franchise which he also co-created with Harold Ramis.

Trivia

• Dan Aykroyd met Carrie Fisher on the set of 1980 film The Blue Brothers and later saved her life when she was choking on a brussel sprout and he performed the Heimlich Maneuver. They were briefly engaged but Fischer got back together with her previous boyfriend, ending the engagement.
