Background[]
Clint Eastwood ( b. 31 May 1930 ) is an American actor, composer, director, and producer. He has appeared in live action television and cinematic roles and has also directed and produced them as well. Eastwood is widely considered to be a legendary Hollywood actor and director with a film career spanning 70 years.
He is famous for his towering height, strong scowling features, and his raspy voice which made him a distinctive star in Western films in the early part of his career. He became a pop culture icon of imposing masculinity thanks to starring in Sergio Leone's seminal Western series as "The Man With No Name" in A Fistful of Dollars; For a Few Dollars More; and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. He also starred in a number of other famous Westerns including Hang 'Em High; The Outlaw Josey Wales; and Pale Rider.
Unlike other typecasted actors, Eastwood shifted into a variety of other genres including action, comedy, romance, and drama films over the ensuing decades of his career―starring in a number of top grossing films including Where Eagles Dare; Every Which Way but Loose; Escape from Alcatraz; and In the Line of Fire.
He is also been immortalized for his role as the brutal anti-hero Inspector Harry Callahan aka Dirty Harry of the Dirty Harry Franchise. Dirty Harry's infamous line of "Go ahead, make my day." is considered to be one of the most recognizable movie quote in history.
In addition, he has also directed (and co-starred) a number of highly acclaimed and critically received films including The Bridges of Madison County; Million Dollar Baby; Gran Torino; and Unforgiven which he also won an Academy Award for Best Director and for Best Picture.
