The Zodiac Key is a mysterious weapon and cosmic artifact that has appeared irregularly throughout the decades in the Marvel-verse; often utilized by various supervillains and criminals as a potent weapon of mass destruction.
Throughout its appearances, it has usually been tied with the varied incarnations of Scorpio, the estranged younger brother to Nick Fury who has used it in various schemes of revenge against his brother and his organization known as the Zodiac.

The Zodiac Key first appeared in the hands of the mysterious Scorpio in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1, published in June of 1968.
The Zodiac Key (and its wielder) has had a long and convoluted and frequently tangled history and capabilities with various writers rewriting or retconning it for the sake of various storylines throughout the decades. When it first appeared, the Zodiac Key could discharge a powerful energy bolt with a significant recharging period between shots.
It was subsequently revealed that it had far greater abilities including creating force fields and could also teleport its wielder across vast distances.
Subsequent writers have created the idea that the Key itself is sentient and has been manipulating its wielders to a certain degree and could manipulate matter to a limited extent and even resurrect its wielder and implant false memories in them.
