Alex acquired the gun on a rescue mission to Maaldoria when she disarmed one of the Maaldorian guards (Supergirl Lives, Season 2, Episode 9, airdate 23 January 2017). Discovering the guns power and usefulness she decided to keep it. "Oh, I got dibs!"
