Whoso ever pulleth this sword shall see the franchise page on films and TV series based on the legendary King Arthur!

One of the most legendary British monarchs in medieval history. According to certain historians, he reputedly reigned in the late 5th to early 6th Century. However most modern scholars proclaim that King Arthur is more the stuff of mythic folklore rather than actual historical fact. He was probably based on a real historical Celtic leader but his "feats" were greatly exaggerated over the centuries and has spread across the world from fanciful word of mouth to imaginative storytelling to the point where fact and fiction has become hopelessly mired and mixed together,

Most popular legends proclaim that Arthur unified Britain with the help of various noble knights and mighty warriors assembled as part of his Round Table and that he ruled from his seat known as Camelot with the mysterious sorcerer Merlin as his trusted advisor and wielded the mighty sword Excalibur as his primary weapon. He faced fierce opposition from numerous challenges to his reign from a powerful sorceress known as Morgana Le Fey. He was subsequently mortally wounded in a fierce duel against Mordred, his traitorous nephew (or bastard son in more modern accounts) and was taken to be healed at the mystic island known as Avalon from his wounds. Supposedly, he sleeps to be reawakened in England's most darkest hour to retake the throne.

French storytellers in the 12th Century would subsequently add the figures of the Knight Lancelot and his affair with Arthur's Queen Guinevere along with the focus of the Knights of the Round Table's quest for the Holy Grail; creating a legend of a tragic love story and romantic love triangle between Arthur and his wife and Queen, and his best friend and faithful knight.

Despite his questionable and debatable status as a historical figure, King Arthur is nevertheless a British icon and legend of a righteous and benevolent ruler who sought to rule justly and fairly to all his subjects and brought order to a troubled land with numerous stories of his nobility and great adventures and marvels.
