"Yo Joe!"
Franchise for the Real American Hero, G.I. Joe.
Derived from a long running action figure toyline produced by Hasbro since 1964. The toyline is credited with developing the concept of "action figures" as executives believed that boys would balk at playing with "dolls" like girls. Originally touted as "America's Movable Fighting Man", the series featured a generic soldier, a sailor, a pilot, and a marine of the four armed branches of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines) and was subsequently rebranded as "G.I. Joe" which was the general term for a US soldier of that era.
The toyline has had a number of successful iterations over the decades with the most successful and wildly popular one being released in 1982 featuring not only action figures but vehicles and playsets along with a backstory of G.I. Joe being an anti-terrorist organization battling a secretive cult-like group known as Cobra and has become an indelible and iconic part of American pop culture with various media adaptations including comics, tv shows, and movies as well.
