A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away... the Death Star is a mammoth space station that some might mistake for a small moon.

History[]

The Death Star was the culmination of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious' desire to create an ultimate weapon in the waning days of the Old Republic. The future Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin conceived the idea of a planet killer, a mobile weapon platform that would possess the firepower superior to that of an entire starfleet, over a thousand capital ships and wipe out an entire planet in a single strike.
