RIP 2021

2021 has been a pretty hard year for everybody, me included.  Sadly, COVID Delta and Omnicron has been kicking all of our asses even with the vaccines.  Still, we made it through and hopefully, next year will be better and we can finally discard those blasted face masks.  But that isn’t to say that it wasn’t without a few good and great people who unfortunately didn’t make through the year with us.  And so, without further ado; let the survivors remember those celebrities whose passing we are left to mourn.  Their stars shined brightly and the rest of us are left a bit dimmer without them.

Jason Hitch; “90 Day Fiance”

Captain Mark Howard; “Below Deck Mediterranean”

Peter Scolari;   “Bosom Buddies”; “Newhart”

Willie Garson;  Mozzie from “White Colla…

SnowyMountain's Iron Man (2008) Review

(WARNING: SPOILERS!!!!)

“Iron Man Lives! He Walks! HE CONQUERS!”

Speaking as a long time comic book fanboy—and an actual ‘Iron Man’ reader and fan as well; I had a lot of expectations for this film.  And a lot of them were negative having to do with the fact that recent string of live action Marvel monstrosities that they had come out just before this film—Daredevil; Elektra; Blade: Trinity; Hulk; X-Men: The Last Stand; Fantastic 4; Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer; and Spider-Man 3 to name a few—and the less said about the Ultimate Avengers DVDs the better. Basically I was worried that it would be yet another abject failure—an insult to the characters that I loved.  Or would it be yet another live action adaptation which barely resembled th…

SnowyMountain's Big Trouble in Little China Review

(WARNING: SPOILERS!!!!)

“Big Action, Laughs, and Even Bigger Fun!”

I know when this underappreciated flick came out, critics and audiences panned it but thanks to the magic of TV reruns—I got to see this gem and fell in love with it.  Let me just say that this movie is a spectacular and underrated hit.  It remains one of my favorite films that I have to watch at least once a year. Just because.

I think that Big Trouble in Little China was simply a decade or so ahead of it’s time with foreign martial arts movies and Japanese anime and manga that really started being tapped by receptive American audiences in the mid to late 90's.

Big Trouble is one of those movies that don’t really slot neatly into a singular category; it’s got some wonderful come…

Snowy Mountain Reviews Blog

Way back on Hollywood & Beyond’s predecessor site of Screened; I used to be a fairly avid reviewer of various TV series and films.  Unfortunately, with the closing of the site, we lost most of all of that data.  I have looked around and tried to recreate a Reviews Section for our Wikia but it appears to be a bit difficult.  I’m not a programmer and most of Wikias don’t seem to carry that sort of thing.

So, I’m starting this blog where I will cover my old reviews—updated a bit. It’s been a while since I posted them after all.  I also hope to add in new stuff here and there as well.

Basically, these blogs contain my opinion of the various films and I hope to progress to specific TV episodes of various series.  This is another attempt to try and …

RIP 2020

2020 is about to come to an end in a few short hours and in some ways, it cannot come soon enough with all of the horror stories of the COVID-19. I'd like to take a moment to reflect on all of those individuals who passed away from that scourge and hopefully, 2021 will be better with the vaccine.

And with that said, may we also remember all of those great stars who passed this year as well.

Dawn Wells; Mary Ann from “Gilligan’s Island”

Dame Barbara Windsor; “Carry On”, “East Enders”

Natalie Desselle-Reid; “B.A.P.S.”

David Prowse; Darth Vader from “Star Wars Episode IV

RIP 2019

It's a bit late but real life interrupts prevented me from posting this in a timely manner.  So sorry.  But 2019 has come and gone and so too has a number of stars and celebrities departed this year as well.  It's a bit startling and sometimes surprising to me to do these lists and realize that I missed out on realizing that some of the characters that they brought to life to entertain me are now gone and will never appear again.  So in tribute to the ones who entertained all of us--who made us laugh or cry, I'd like to dedicate a moment to remember them and their careers and their roles (and not so great roles) that they played.  I'm also quite sure that I didn't list quite a number of them as well.  So if you know of one who I missed, fe…

RIP 2018

Another year has come and gone and yet more wonderful and extraordinary people who have touched our lives have passed on during this year.  Goodbye all and thanks for the laughs, tears, and memories.

If there is anyone whom I missed, feel free to list them.  This list is some of actors or celebrities who graced the screen and the roles that they were best known by and in some cases, the performances that they were be'st known to me as.

Jon Paul Steuer;       Alexander Rozhenko from “Star Trek: The Next Generation”

Jerry Van Dyke;        Luther Van Dam from “Coach”; “The Dick Van Dyke Show”; “My Mother the Car”

Robin Leach;    “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”

R. Lee Ermey;   Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in “Full Metal Jacket”

RIP 2017

Well, 2017 is coming to a close.  Holy geez, has an entire year gone by already?  To Hollywood & Beyond: The Movie & TV Wiki has grown surely if irregularly over the past year and we've added a lot more pages, profiles, and pics.  More movies have come out, more aspiring stars have taken their steps into beocming the stars of tomorrow.  And unfortunately, we've also lost a few good ones along the way.

So before we close out the year and celebrate 2018 ... let's remember the ones who we also had to say goodbye to in 2017 and the roles we best remember them in.

I'll start...

Mary Tyler Moore:  Laura Petrie from "The Dick Van Dyke Show", Mary Richards from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"

Don Rickles

John Hurt: Professor Broom from "Hellboy"; Adam Sutler …

RIP 2016

Well, 2016 is going to over and done with in a few short hours (at least from where I'm sitting).  And this year has been a hard one in my opinion.  We lost quite a few people in this short year.  They made us laugh, they made us cry, we plunked ourselves in front of the TV to watch them or went out to the movie theaters to watch them on the silver screen.  They were some of our best and brightest and many of them were gone too soon.  Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen.

So, fell free to list anyone that I may have missed that passed away this year and deserves a nod in your favorite roles.

Nancy Reagan; former First Lady and wife to President Ronald Reagan

Patty Duke as Patty and Cathy Lane from the Patty Duke Show

George Kennedy as Captain Ed Hocken…

To Hollywood Wikia Summer 2016 Wiki Projects

Now I'm graduated from college, I have more free time to work in Anime Vice and To Hollywood and Beyond Wikia if work doesn't drain me. I underestimated how physical demanding my current job is. When I come home from school, I'm only mentally stressed but not physically. With work, I have no stress but I'm physically exhausted from the activity that requires a lot of walking, lifting, and such.

For To Hollywood and Beyond Wikia, I'm doing three wiki projects.

  • Daredevil (2015) season 2 episode summaries
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) episode summaries - I need to rewrite the episode summaries after we found out we didn't back up the wiki work from Anime Vice and Screened. It's on my shoulders to restore the wiki pages and then make a credit…

Batman: Bad Blood Review (Mild Spoilers)

Welcome to this short review on Batman: Bad Bladd. I'm doing this to promote both To Hollywood and Beyond Wikia and comic book discussions in Anime Vice message board. We have a wiki page on this film. All images are screen capped at To Hollywood Wikia and Beyond Wikia if you like to browse our image gallery.

Before you check out this film, this film is in a series of films. You have to watch Son of Batman and then Batman v. Robin before you tackle Batman: Bad Blood. All these films started out on Damian, the 4th Robin who never appeared in DC animated universe until we had these films. This year, we have a 4th film starring the Teen Titans with Damian in it.

I'm not a comic book reader, so I won't be able to give you details about the original …

Justice League: Gods & Monsters Review (No Spoilers)

Hello everyone, I'm starting a small project doing reviews to promote both Anime Vice Boards and To Hollywood and Beyond Wikia. Mike had asked me about reviews in the Wikia after we posted Dream and SnowyMountain's tips into one super review guide that incorporates both reviewers experiences in reviewing anime/manga and TV/Films. I was thinking on how to promote reviews. This is one of the answers I thought about. I'm not a good reviewer, just doing this to encourage folks to either review in either sites or both. Having some fun, too. (Have been doing wiki work a lot. Needed to wind down a bit)

Wiki Page: Justice League: Gods & Monsters (2015)

Short Background: I'm not an avid comic book reader. I got into comics through the 1990's animated …

Review Guide

Hello everyone! Back in the old site, we had a review guide written by Wales, one of best reviewers in the community. Unfortunately, we didn't save the guide. What we have here is a short, casual guide written by Dream and SnowyMountain of Anime Vice and Screened, long time expert reviewers in our communities. Please thank them for taking the time to share advice.

Then, we talk about formats. Basically, you pretty experiment and try new things to find out what your preferred review style is. We list formats that folks had used.

Tips

  • The big one obviously: make sure it's your own work and you are not copying off someone else.
  • Try minimizing spoilers. The whole point of a review is to give a reader your perception of the series for them to dete…

New Administrator

Hi Hollywood Wikia Viewers!

My name is SnowyMountain and thanks to Mikex20, I have been given the priviledge of being one of this site's new Administrators.  I thought I'd let you all know that if there is any problems that you wish to address or comment on, you are certainly free to send me a message and let me know.  So I can pass it on to somebody else to take care of.

Just kidding!  I'll certainly do my best to help and while I'm not that experienced, I'm sure that the other guys will help as well if I can't.  Please be patient with me.  Thank you.

Anime Vice and Screened Timeline

Welcome to the Anime Vice and Screened's Timeline project. Because of Screened's closure on March 14, 2014, I was concerned about Screened and Anime Vice. I realized our time is short. As a former historian in a college club, I carried that influence into Anime Vice by documenting mainly wiki work when I first started in Anime Vice. Here I am, doing this to preserve our two community's hard work and struggle.

I welcome all help because this is a community's time line, anything significant (Wiki, Battle, RPG, Reviews, and Staff) should be here.

Thank you everyone.

Image storage

Well as my first blog i've decided to share what the websites i've been using to store all of my images online rather then have them all stored on my pc. It also helps having them on a database because if something happens to your pc you've lost all your images and work, and in case something happens to the website your on, you wont have to re-edit all the images you've made.

I'll start by introducing myself, I'm Cloudguy, a wiki editor who's been working on wiki's for about 2 years, my main site is ComicVine.

  1. Imgur

Imgur is a social networking site that allows you to upload images worldwide, I mainly use it to save all of my images i've worked with so I can find them easily and to save space on my computer. Although I think it does have an u…

The Best & Worst of 2014

Well, Christmas is coming up and so 2014 is coming to and end as well.  Sadly we lost quite a few great actors and actresses this year such as Robin Williams, Joan Rivers, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Harold Ramis, Mickey Rooney, Ann B. Davis, Casey Kasem, James Garner, and Sir Richard Attenborough.

2014 also had quite a number of films that I thought were great and needs celebration such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days of Future Past.  I was originally just going to pick one film for my top choice in 2014 but in the end, I coudn't decide between two of them.  So without further ado:

  1. The LEGO Movie
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy

These were the movies which honestly surprised me at how good they were.  I did not expect either of them …

Winter 2013 Screened TV Experiences: Star Trek/Walking Dead

Welcome everyone! I know it's a bit late, but I wanted to do a blog similar to my project called Anime Vice Recommendations and Experiences where I take folks' recommended anime and manga and try it out. I do a marathon, might not finish it, but I share my experiences and recommend to the right folks who will love it. Originally, I wanted to do as my last blog in Screened when it shut down on March 2014. I never got a chance due to school and trying to save people's wiki work and reviews from Screened.

I do these series of blogs to show our community does discuss anime, manga, and TV shows while getting folks to try new and old shows!

Don't worry, I won't go into spoilers. I just want to give a general impression, not a traditional review.

R.I.P. Robin Williams

Remembering Robin Williams

He was one of the greats.  A fine actor and great comedian.  What is even more tragic is that he committed suicide which is truly ironic considering how talented he was in bringing laughter and joy to other people.

I can't understand why so many actors seem to struggle with depression and can't seem to find any other way out.  This is the guy who I fondly remember as the Genie from Aladdin, the crossdressing Mrs. Doubtfire, the strange alien from Mork & Mindy, and Popeye; the very first movie that I remember seeing him in.

I've seen him in so many, many more yet those of the ones which stick in my head.  The ones that make me smile.  It's a terrible shame that it didn't seem to do the same to him.

I don't think th…

(Introduction) How should TV shows be handled in this Wiki?

Hi, I'm Master Menos. If the name doesn't ring a bell, I'm Bigheart711, one of the people who migrated here from Screened. I happen to know way more about television and anime than movies, but I have no clue how to handle such edits and what to do. I do have experience in Wikia, but the most of it was for the Cardfight Vanguard Wikia and I feel that I haven't properly delved into editing around these parts, despite being a veteran thanks to sites like Anime Vice and Giant Bomb. Should they be handled in the same way as the Movies for now, or much differently?
