Their relationship is strained when the Court of Owls target both of them with Talon aiming to make Damian his protege.

Plot[]

Damian sneaks out to find missing children who were abducted by Anton Schott (Dollmaker). Once Batman joins the fray, Damian chases down Dollmaker into the woods while Batman subdues the brainwashed children and frees the captive children. Faced with a decision, Damian spares Dollmaker's life, but he turns around to find an owl-masked man who stabbed and plucked out Dollmaker's heart. Batman arrives as soon as Talon leaves the scene. Batman then asks Damian about killing the man while Damian denies this.

Over at the Wayne Manor, Bruce and Samantha spend quality time for dinner. Bruce shows her a hologram of the city and shares his aspirations of making Gotham City a safer place for its citizens. Then, Damian wakes up, interrupting Bruce and Samantha's moment. Bruce quickly informs Samantha that Damian is his ward (cutting off Damian who was about to say "son") After Bruce and Samantha kiss goodbye, Bruce assures Damian that he will let him out in public once the paper works are done. Later that night, Damian tries to escape the Wayne Manor only to be stop by security. Bruce and Damian argue about trust between them.

While Batman goes out to investigate the Court of Owls, NightWing spars with Damian due to Nightwing being a babysitter. In their fight, Damian words about blood and family catches Nightwing off guard. Damian kicks and defeats Nightwing. At the museum's owl exhibit, 3 trained assassins attack Batman until their body breaks down. Seconds later, Batman loses consciousness. Elsewhere in Gotham, Damian breaks up a street robbery and meets up with Talon who explains his stance on crime. Talon offers Damian to join him, and when Damian needs time, Talon gives him a device which acts as a beacon.

Once Damian returns home, he finds Bruce and Dick waiting for him. Bruce takes Damian's sai and warns Damian that he will send him to a school in Switzerland. On his destination to a date with Samantha, Bruce is caught by 4 cars associated with the Court of Owls. Upon crashing, the men take Bruce to meet with the grandmaster who offers Bruce to join them. At the Court of Owls' headquarters, the grandmaster asks Bruce to join them. Bruce declines for now in order to need more time to make his decision. Before he puts down the owl mask, he places a tracer on it. The men knock out Bruce in order to conceal their location before returning Bruce to his home.

Meanwhile, Damian works with Talon in beating up criminals, and when Talon orders Damian to kill one man, Damian refuses to cross the line. Talon then shares his story about his father in order to connect Damian.  Then, Batman arrives to explain to Robin that he is being used by Talon and when Batman attempts to pursue Talon, Damian attacks Batman because he feels Batman is holding him back. The fight ends with Damian defeating his father and almost crossing the line.

Later on, Batman tracks the signal to the Court of Owls where he succumbs to hallucinogenic gas. As NightWing rescues Batman, Talon arrives with Damian, presenting him as his replacement and protege. Upon asking Damian to remove his mask in order to prove his loyalty, the grandmaster realizes Damian is Bruce's ward after seeing his face. She orders Talon to execute Damian in an effort to break Batman's heart. Talon disobeys the grandmaster (Samantha)'s orders and goes on a rampage, killing every Court of Owl member before kissing and killing Samantha last.

Talon captures Damian and puts him into a tube, so he can turn Damian into a loyal, dead soldier. Before he leaves Damian, he shares that he will kill Bruce Wayne. In a battle at the Batcave, and Alfred, Talon loses to Damian by having Damian push the sai through his throat, killing him. Afterwards, Damian bids his father farewell in order to find who he is and where he truly belongs.
