After witnessing his parents' brutal murder by a common mugger, Bruce Wayne dedicated his life and fortune towards waging a war on crime. By day, he is the obscenely wealthy billionaire playboy but at night, he is the mysterious Caped Crusader known as the Batman!
Batman: The Animated Series was an American produced action-adventure superhero animated cartoon TV series with Kevin Conroy, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Bob Hastings contributing as the primary voice actors.
The series was an adaptation of DC Comics' flagship character of Batman aka the Dark Knight Detective and one of their most popular and enduring media franchises.
Batman: The Animated Series or Batman: TAS was a landmark and critically acclaimed series which was hugely popular and was highly praised for its sophistication, mature writing, voice acting, orchestrated soundtrack, thematic complexity, and darker tone with its distinctive Art Deco look; winning no less than four Emmys during its series run. It is also credited as being one of the greatest and most faithful adaptations of the original DC Comics' character of the Dark Knight Detective.
In addition, Batman: TAS pretty much defined and influenced the look and artwork of the Batman for well over a decade by establishing the DC Animated Universe Franchise. Much of the DCAU is based on the groundwork and history which was laid out by this series. It was so popular that it inspired four direct-to-video feature films as well as two sequel series, The New Batman Adventures and Batman Beyond as well as various other DCAU spin-off series.
