In a world filled with superheroes and supervillains, exotic hyper-technologies, and weird supernatural phenomena; the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) are all that stands between them and the rest of humanity. This is the story of a special task force of field operatives and specialists, ordinary men and women who dare to fight the extraordinary ... they are the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was a long-running American produced action-adventure sci-fi espionage TV series starring Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge. The popularity of S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent, Phil Coulson (as portrayed by Clark Gregg) in the various Marvel Cinematic Universe feature films resulted in this spin-off TV series focusing on the preeminent espionage and peacekeeping organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Thanks to its ties to the MCU; the series often has had crossovers and references from various films and other TV projects in the franchise including guest stars such as Hayley Atwell reprising her role as Agent Peggy Carter tying into her role as helping found S.H.I.E.L.D. The series also often interacted with events of the feature films.

The show's popularity also saw an attempt to create a spin-off TV series, Marvel's Most Wanted which was to focus on Agents Hunter and Morse but it was declined by studio executives. There is also a web-based spin-off series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot released in 2016.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was given the subtitle of "Ghost Rider" in the fourth season due to the season's focus on the special guest star of Gabriel Luna starring at the eponymous Ghost Rider.

Notable Characters[]

Phil Coulson	The long-time right hand man of Director Nick Fury himself. Phil Coulson was resurrected after the Battle of New York to lead a brand new elite team of S.H.I.E.L.D. troubleshooters to protect humanity from unique and unusual threats. Despite the dismantling of the organization after it was revealed that their long time nemesis Hydra had infiltrated it, he rebuilt S.H.I.E.L.D. and served as its Director. He was portrayed by Clark Gregg.
Skye/Daisy Johnson	Former hacktivist recruited by Coulson to serve on his team as a special consultant. She subsequently became a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative only to discover that the organization had been infiltrated by Hydra and helped Coulson and his team go underground and work behind the scenes to rebuild the organization. Skye subsequently discovered that she was a descendant of the Inhumans and had superhuman powers that was later unlocked, becoming a vigilante who worked to protect other Inhuman descendants. She was portrayed by Chloe Bennet.
Melinda May	A highly ranked and supremely skilled S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was reluctantly brought back into the field by her long friendship with Phil Coulson. She serves as his deputy and also the main pilot of their mobile headquarters. She was portrayed by Ming-Na Wen.
Leo Fitz	Brilliant engineer and inventor who was recruited by the S.H.I.E.L.D. Sci-Tech Division alongside his best friend and research partner, Jemma Simmons. He was portrayed by Iain De Caestecker.
Jemma Simmons	The other half of the "brains" of Coulson's Team who specializes in biochemistry alongside her research partner, Leo Fitz. She was portrayed by Elizabeth Henstridge.
Grant Ward	A highly skilled S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent and a trusted member of Coulson's Team ... or so they thought. It was subsequently revealed that Ward was a member of Hydra when he betrayed the group and was a long adversary to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Coulson. He was portrayed by Brett Dalton.
Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie	A longtime agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who remained loyal to the organization after the revelation of the Hydra infiltration. He was a member of an opposing faction which worked in opposition to Coulson's group, believing him to be a renegade and a traitor only to band together to fight against the threat of Hydra. He was later partnered with Skye/Daisy Johnson. He was portrayed by Henry Simmons.
