<p>I don't follow the Turtles stuff much but this trailer shows me a movie that doesn't know what it wants it to be. It starts off so very self-serious and ends with a hey-guys-look-at-this-oh-so-funny-moment. One thing I dislike in modern trailers is how they dramatically reveal CGI effects as if it's some big revelation and "oh my god! I've never seen CGI before. This looks wondrous". Convince us this has a good story and characters because this trailer does not do that for me. </p><p>I predict that this movie will get mixed reviews and the fans will hate it. Didn't I hear that the casting of Megan Fox was very unpopular with the fans also? I have a feeling the quality of her performance will carry or sink this one. </p>

<p>In the comics, the ooze that transforms the turtles into mutants came from aliens. So an alien presense in the movie isn't that bad. Casting a caucasian actor to play Shredder seems like an odd choice though. </p>

<p>That casting choice was probably one of the remnants of the first draft for this movie. Originally, Shredder was suppossed to be German as part of a really bad joke. (ex: He was called Colonel Schrader. Get it? He's German!) </p>

<p>With Karai being in the film, I'm curious to see if Fichtner is going to be the "real" Shredder, or someone the Foot Clan is using to pose as him. </p>

Wow. Both you guy's Turtle knowledge runs deep. I don't know much but don't the original comics have a relatively dark and serious tone? And not so goofy as the cartoons etc. Do you think they are trying to recapture the original tone at all?

<p>The original black & white comic series was dark, and was inspired by Frank Miller's Ronin. They also published a title in color that had more humor in it, and took place between the bi-monthly black & white series issues. </p>

Surprised at how different the source material was.
